Alfred Vail School Objectives for 2008-2009 |
||
| OBJECTIVE: Going Green: Keep our School and Earth Clean | ||
| Taking care of our world is an important concept that should begin in the early years of life. Through a variety of activities students will demonstrate an awareness of recycling, conserving energy, composting, and respect for our environment. It is a component of our science, social studies and health curriculum. However, with the involvement of staff, students and families this will be brought more into focus everyday. | ||
| OBJECTIVE: Writing Skills/Writing Workshop | ||
| During the 2008 - 2009 school year, the teaching staff at Alfred Vail is committed to implementing the Writing Workshop model of teaching writing strategies. This supports the Morris School District ‘s goal as well as the NJ Core Content Standards and assists in our district mandate for student proficiency in writing. To enhance student proficiency in writing this year, the emphasis will be placed on process writing using researched writing models. Marking period assessments and student work samples reflecting District benchmarks will provide data to teachers and administration that indicate level of student achievement. | ||
