SPORTS/FAVORITE SPORT DAY

On Wednesday, October 21^st Alfred Vail School will be celebrating Favorite Sports Day! 

All students will vote for their favorite sport and the results will be posted in the cafeteria. Also, Mr. Torres will be setting up five stations during gym (baseball, basketball, football, hockey and soccer) for the students to participate in.

Students should wear a shirt from their favorite sports team.

Pictures of the day’s events will be posted in the cafeteria for all to enjoy.

MIX IT UP AT LUNCH DAY

On Mix It Up at Lunch Day, November 10^th, students will be encouraged to make new friends by taking a new seat in the cafeteria. By taking a new seat and meeting new people, students will learn that no matter what our differences are, we can all be friends.

MAKE A FRIEND DAY

On January 14, 2010, Alfred Vail School will be celebrating “Make a Friend Day”.

All classes and teachers will participate on this special day by doing activity together.  All students will be learning about characteristics of a good friend and will have an opportunity to make a new friend from another class.

Some activities may include, sharing or writing a story with a friend, interviewing a new friend, drawing a picture together or playing a game together. Students may also share a nutritious snack together.

Pictures will be taken and displayed on the bulletin board in the cafeteria, for all to admire.

DIVERSITY WEEK

Alfred Vail will be celebrating Diversity Week next Monday, March 15th.  The students will be learning interesting facts about five selected countries from around the world.  The students will be listening to ethnic music, coloring flags, learning phrases, playing games or even watching a variety of videos related to the selected country for the day. As a culminating activity on Friday, the students will be able to present their family crest to their classmates and give a brief presentation about their heritage.

DON’T THROW IT AWAY, RECYCLE IT DAY

Remember to Recycle: It Saves the World!

Recycling means to use something again.

Always recycle, not just now and then.

There are things to be reused;

here’s a little hint:

Magazines and newspapers

And anything in print.

Cardboard, aluminum, glass and steel,

These items to be recycled are really ideal.

Each ton of recycled paper saves 17 trees,

And never dump trash

in our world’s deep blue seas.

Do you know that recycling saves energy and cost?

For every tree we save,

We cut down on oxygen loss.
